Senior pets have so much love to give

According to TEARS Animal Rescue, senior pets are often the most overlooked at animal shelters. They have a few years under the proverbial belt, but there’s still plenty of fun and affection up ahead.

  • Fully perfect: All grown up and perfect just the way they are. Older pets are fully grown and there are no surprises about size, colour or temperament.
  • They've got that lovin’ feelin’: Affectionate and loving, older pets somehow know how to say “I love you” in just the right way.
  • "Naughtiness" is a thing of the past: Acting out and climbing up your curtains, digging and chewing is no longer the concern of older pets. They are over the teenage phase and have learned to take it easy.
  • More independent: More sure of themselves and confident in how to deal with the day, whether it be gallivanting or slouching around.
  • Take it easy: More relaxed, older pets know that there is a time for play and a time for rest. The energy consumption of an older pet is just so much more compatible with a relaxed lifestyle of simply being at home.
  • A good night’s sleep: We all need our sleep and older pets are considerate in that way.
  • Awesome! They really are just that!
  • If you have an empty spot on your sofa, TEARS Animal Rescue might have just the right couch potato for you. Post-adoption support for senior pets:
